About this course
What are the meanings of life and death? Why are we here? Is mortality something bad for us? How about the idea of afterlife? What makes our life meaningful?
If you have ever thought about these questions, this course is for you.
Different from typical courses in applied ethics, here we aim to examine the scientific and religious perspectives and their possible interplay in one’s outlook on life and death, in addition to the ethical standpoints. Apart from discussing the morally controversial topics, such as suicide, euthanasia and abortion, the central case study involving a family tragedy will be illustrated through a micro-movie and a course e-book. An immersive card game and polling questions are designed to articulate and share your own viewpoints. This course will amaze you with diverse interpretations and answers to these perennial questions.
